Matcha is an anonymous chat and dating service that operates through Telegram at usematcha.ng. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

Matcha collects the minimum data needed to operate the service:

• Telegram User ID — a numeric identifier provided by Telegram when you interact with the bot. This is not your phone number or username.
• Profile preferences — gender, age range, state, and city that you provide during setup. These are used only for matching purposes.
• Chat session metadata — timestamps and session duration to manage timeouts. We do not store chat message content.
• Payment data — if you subscribe to Premium, payment is processed by Flutterwave or Telegram Stars. We store your subscription status and expiry date. We do not store card numbers or payment credentials.

2. What We Do Not Collect

• Your Telegram username, display name, or phone number are never stored or shared with your chat partner.
• We do not store the content of your conversations.
• We do not collect your location beyond the state and city you voluntarily provide.
• We do not sell your data to third parties.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To match you anonymously with other users based on your preferences.
• To enforce session limits (2 free chats per day for free users).
• To send service notifications such as session timeouts and subscription reminders via Telegram.
• To investigate reports of abusive behaviour and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Data Retention

We retain your profile data for as long as you use the service. You can request deletion at any time by contacting us. Inactive accounts (no activity for 12 months) are automatically deleted.

5. Third-Party Services

• Telegram — the bot operates inside Telegram. Telegram's own Privacy Policy applies to your use of the Telegram app.
• Flutterwave — processes Naira payments for Premium subscriptions. See Flutterwave's Privacy Policy.
• Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager — used on our website (usematcha.ng) to understand traffic. This applies only to the website, not the Telegram bot.

6. Security

Matcha runs on encrypted servers and uses HTTPS for all web traffic. Chat sessions are ephemeral — once ended, the message content is not retained on our servers. Your Telegram User ID is stored hashed where possible.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Request deletion of your data at any time.
• Withdraw consent by stopping use of the service.

8. Children

Matcha is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we discover an underage user, their account will be removed immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of Matcha after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
